Our Vision

Our vision is to be a progressive electricity and energy services business that creates value for customers, communities and our shareholders. Our mission is to provide safe, reliable delivery of electricity and related energy services, within Chatham-Kent in an environmentally responsible manner at competitive rates; responsive service levels at cost levels that provide reasonable financial benefit's to the shareholders; and enhance economic development within the Municipality of Chatham-Kent. We are also committed to pursuing growth opportunities within and beyond the Municipal boundaries that will increase the value of the shareholder's investment and enhance Chatham-Kent Energy's ability to maintain its presence in the Ontario market.

Keeping in step with our commitment to both the environment and providing cost efficient services, we are one of the leading utilities in the Ontario government's roll out of Smart Meters. In 2005, we undertook the largest Smart Meter pilot program in Ontario. We deployed 1000 smart meters on a wireless network to transmit real time interval usage data back so that in the future, power can be billed properly whether it is used during peak or off peak hours. This initiative is having a significant impact on the government's assessment of what types of Smart Metering systems should be installed in Ontario to meet their goal of deploying 4.2 million smart meters by 2010.
